Our company installed a mobile noise barrier on Spořilovská Street in Prague 4.

The foundation blocks were manufactured at the Čerčany plant. The noise barriers with an absorbent layer were manufactured at the Litice nad Orlicí plant. Throughout the manufacturing process, the quality of the components produced was regularly monitored by the client, the main contractor and the supplier. The noise barrier was 100 metres long, comprising 25 foundation blocks and 454 m² of sound-absorbing panels.

Spořilovská Street in Prague connects the Jižní spojka with the D1 motorway. One of the challenges was obtaining permission to close such a heavily used road. In the end, the only option proved to be closing the road at weekends and on public holidays, when traffic on this route is at its lightest.

The project was carried out in two phases.

In the first phase, foundation blocks were laid on the road, and steel posts were subsequently inserted into the blocks. A new method of securing HEB posts within the foundation blocks was tested on this noise barrier both during manufacture and subsequently during installation.

The advantage of this new system is that the installation of the foundation blocks is less demanding in terms of the flatness and strength of the substrate onto which the blocks are mounted. A further advantage is that the HEB posts can be aligned quite easily once inserted into the socket using assembly jigs.

The mobile noise barrier also included a crash absorber, which minimises loss of life in the event of an accident whilst also protecting the noise barrier from catastrophic damage.

In the second phase, the noise barriers were installed into the already assembled foundation blocks containing the HEB columns set in concrete.
